Compare Workshop Systems

Not all workshops are created equal.

The construction method you choose is one of the biggest factors impacting your new shop budget. General Steel buildings reduce the factors associated with complicated traditional construction projects like pole barns that end up becoming costly lengthy projects. A new workshop building from General Steel is, technically-speaking, a pre-engineered steel building, which means that all components are designed, engineered, and prefabricated in a controlled environment to ensure that all structural supports, walls panels, roof panels, and additional custom accessories are specifically designed and pre-drilled to ensure proper fit and alignment when they arrive to you ready to be assembled.

Pole barns can be aesthetically pleasing an effective solution if you’re willing to maintain the building. Pole barns are also less expensive that other options if you’re looking for a gambrel style roof.

Pole barns can be susceptible to decay from soil conditions and damage from pests. This type of construction is also highly combustible.

Depending on where you live, used Quonset Huts can be cheaper to relocate than build new. Quonset huts also feature a column free design.

Quonset huts must be constructed on a thick slab of concrete for structural integrity. While column free, the sloped sides reduce usable interior space.

Steel prices can be volatile and if you don’t buy at the right time, your building price can change drastically. Learn which economic factors to keep an eye on and where economists forecast the price of steel to go this year.
