Frequently Asked Questions
What's the difference between C-Channel framing and I-Beam framing?
I-beams are used on larger structures that need to span greater widths. Since mini storage buildings only span the size of the storage unit, C-Channel framing is more than adequate. C-Channel framing provides an all steel building just like I-beam construction but C-Channel framing costs much less.
Can units be placed in the endwall of the building?
Yes, some of our customers opt to gain a few extra units by placing them in the endwalls. Doing so makes expanding from the endwall more difficult in the future.
Can General Steel supply two story public storage facilities?
Yes, while most of our customers elect for the more traditional low-rise mini storage system, two story projects are certainly possible. Keep in mind, a multistory self storage project requires a steel mezzanine which adds significantly more cost to the project.
