Why Wyoming?
Mead and his partners decided to strictly use ingredients from his home state. The Big Horn Basin is the source for all of the corn, wheat and barley used in the mild bourbon. The distillery, hidden in the north central part of the state, is part of Hot Springs County. At higher than 4,000 feet, Kirby is the benefactor of a natural hot spring, and the water used from the limestone aquifer might just be what separates Wyoming Whiskey from its competitors.
Challenging the Status Quo
With the competition boasting brand names over a hundred years old, Wyoming Whiskey faced an uphill battle in the brand loyal liquor industry. But that didn’t stop Wyoming Whiskey from challenging the status quo and rapidly overcoming the initial reservations of critics and whiskey enthusiasts who quickly warmed up to the drink.
