General Steel Carport for Commercial Vehicles

Two Construction Styes: Tubular Steel and I-Beam

The 3-car carports available from GenSteel come in two categories: tubular steel and I-beam.

These two construction styles offer our customers a wide range of size and strength options. Tubular steel carports are generally smaller and more affordable, whereas carports constructed using i-beams can be much larger and taller.

GenSteel tubular steel is manufactured using a metal extrusion process that results in a square-shaped steel tube that is formed to meet the design specifications of the carport in question.

Tubular steel carports from GenSteel are available in sizes as small as 12’ x 12’ and as large as 20’ x 40’. Every carport we ship is available in your choice of color and is constructed using 12-gauge steel tubing and 29-gauge steel sheeting.

I-beam construction is far-and-away stronger than tubular steel, as the supports are forged, not extruded. And, more steel is used in the manufacturing process. So, while the cost might be higher for an i-beam carport, it’s going to withstand much higher wind loads and provide longer-lasting protection in comparison with tubular steel construction.

GenSteel i-beam carports are available in sizes as small as 16’ x 20’ and as large as 30’ x 40’. Larger sizing options are available with a custom-designed, single-slope canopy solution.
