Steel Building Contractors?

Your Project Consultant at General Steel can help you connect with a contractor in your area, but hiring a contractor is a serious decision and you should only trust a company with a proven track record of success. Here are some areas we recommend you evaluate when selecting a contractor to construct your steel building:

Areas to Evaluate

  • Licensed
  • Background Checked
  • Minimum 3-5 Years of Business Ownership
  • Extensive Construction Background
  • Local to the Area
  • Financially Capable

How Much Does it Cost to Construct a Metal Building Kit?

All metal building projects must budget for concrete piers or a slab and erection costs. Depending on where in the country you plan to build and the size of the building, these project costs can be on the lower end or higher end of the range. Larger buildings, usually above 5,000 SQFT tend to be on the lower end of the spectrum and as shown below, concrete and erection will cost more in some areas of the country regardless of size.

Concrete $10 - $15 per SQFT
Erection $7 - $10 per SQFT

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I save on upfront construction costs?

Many of our customers will pour piers only and then add a full concrete slab later. If you opt for piers only, you can lay a gravel floor to create a reliable surface until you pour the slab.

How do I get an estimate for construction services?

To have us price any combination of construction services at the same time as your building, simply let your representative know which services you will need or you can let us know by selecting the applicable fields on our online contact forms.

What if my building needs maintenance in the future?

Whether you need a contractor’s assistance on an upcoming steel building project or require some help with an existing General Steel building, our contractor network is always available to all General Steel customers now or in future.

Turnkey Projects

Our contractor network is capable of delivering turnkey services if you are building a metal home, barndominium, church or other building that requires more extensive interior finishes. Turnkey prices are more difficult to provide price ranges for because the range depends heavily on the interior finishes you choose. For example, a horse stable with a tongue and groove ceiling finish will add significantly more cost than an office building with a drywall or drop ceiling finish.
